We inspire and empower local communities to connect with their nature spaces, foster local understanding of biodiversity, and train volunteers on how to protect and enhance their green and blue infrastructure for future generations. Our ecologists give tailored, expert advice and support on habitat management and creation, engagement with nature recovery, sources of funding, and signpost to further guidance.
The core work of our Community Ecology programme offers free bespoke advice to community groups, town and parish councils, businesses and landowners that would like to improve their green spaces for Oxfordshire’s habitats and species and increase local biodiversity. This can take the form of email or phone advice, a site visit with a follow up report including recommendations, or a management plan to help guide the best actions for you to take to help local wildlife populations. We also offer Neighbourhood Plan teams advice on ecological aspects of their work.
We also provide talks on Nature’s Recovery and what parish councils and others can do to take action on their local patch-we have a few wildlife-based topics that we can talk about, so do get in touch if you would like us to speak with your community.
We run training, events and our annual Local Environment Groups conference to educate and inspire nature recovery action.

We also have our Hedgerow Heroes project, where we work closely with a group of volunteers to develop bespoke hedgerow projects in different locations across the county.
