As an individual there are so many ways to support us, get involved, and help create a nature-rich future for Oxfordshire. Explore the options below, including: one-off donations, regular membership subscriptions, legacy, and volunteering. Whatever contribution you can make is greatly appreciated by Wild Oxfordshire.
“Every important victory that has been secured, from the saving of the whales in the 1970s to the turning of the tide on the destruction of the ozone layer in the 1990s, has happened because of small groups of passionate, brilliant people – supported by the generosity of philanthropists large and small. Giving a small amount each month to one of these organisations is a meaningful, radical and powerfully rewarding act, one which far too few people in our society have discovered. The three most effective things any one of us can do towards fixing this, the mother of all issues, and moving our civilisation into a new age of harmony with nature are: to vote with nature in mind; to buy stuff mindfully; and to choose a nature organisation to support with whatever regular amount you can afford. Once you start, you won’t stop. And when your children or grandchildren one day ask you what role you played in all of this, you’ll have an answer for them”.

A gift to Wild Oxfordshire will help us conserve Oxfordshire’s environment ensuring its beauty and the benefits it gives us are enjoyed by all for generations to come. Individuals who are passionate about Oxfordshire’s environment can support us with a one-off or regular donation. The Friends of Wild Oxfordshire donation form can be downloaded here.
Friends of Wild Oxfordshire enjoy an exclusive Annual Lecture with reception, and invitations to visit Wild Oxfordshire projects.
Gift Aid If you are a tax-payer you can make every £1 you give worth 25p more just by completing the ‘Gift Aid’ part of the donation form. If you are a higher rate tax payer you may be able to claim tax relief on your donation. More information on Gift Aid can be found on the HMRC website.
Legacy Leaving us a gift in your will is another tax efficient way of giving as its value will be deducted from your estate (your money, possessions and property) before Inheritance Tax is worked out. Gifts made before your death may also qualify for exemption. You can either leave a fixed sum (known as a ‘Pecuniary Legacy’), or part or all of your estate once other gifts have been distributed (known as a ‘Residuary Legacy’). If you already have a will you and would like to make a donation you can add a codicil to an existing will.
We advise you to use a solicitor to make or change your will. More information on making a will and leaving gifts to charity can be found on the government website or from Citizen’s Advice. Giving a gift in memory – you can ask for gifts to be given in memory of a loved one in lieu of flowers. If you’d like any information on any aspect of our work please contact Clare Mowbray on 01865 407034 or clare@wildoxfordshire.org.uk

If you drink wine or bubbly you can help our environment simply by saving the corks! Corks don’t break down in landfill but Recorked UK (https://recorkeduk.org/) recycles corks and donates money to charity. There are collection points at Bothy Vineyard (https://www.bothyvineyard.co.uk/), Marcham Shop, Hanney Community Shop, Appleton Community Shop, Added Ingredients in Abingdon, Common Ground in Oxford, Childrey Village Store, Cumnor Post Office Shop and Blewbury Post Office. Recorked UK donates a penny to Wild Oxfordshire for every cork collected – So drink wine (responsibly) and save our environment!
Join our network of community groups and conservation organisations, all working together, supporting and inspiring one another to deliver nature recovery across our County
We are lucky in Oxfordshire to have a wonderful group of hard-working, passionate, and knowledgeable individuals employed by a variety of organisations (charities, local government, DEFRA bodies, Protected Landscapes, businesses), in addition to a large number of volunteer community groups and individuals.
Working together for Nature’s Recovery is essential so that we can support each other and collaborate to achieve greater impact for our environment and communities.
Membership of Wild Oxfordshire supports our work leading on essential countywide strategic biodiversity plans such as the State of Nature and the Nature Recovery Strategy, and our facilitation of several partnerships and knowledge-exchange groups.
