Nature-based solutions for systemic change: Transforming climate action through local, ecological and relational knowledge. Nathalie Seddon, Professor of Biology

We were delighted welcome Professor Nathalie Seddon of the University of Oxford to give our Annual Lecture and very grateful to Professor David Macdonald for hosting the event at Wild CRU’s offices.

Following a short welcome from David Macdonald, Wild Oxfordshire’s Chief Executive Camilla Burrow gives an update of the achievements of Wild Oxfordshire’s projects in the past year, before handing over to Professor Nathalie Seddon from the University of Oxford.

Professor Nathalie Seddon explores how nature-based solutions can address the intertwined climate and nature crises by combining conservation science with a deep understanding of local and relational values. The talk discusses the urgency of shifting from carbon-focused, technocratic fixes to regenerative solutions rooted in ecological principles and diverse knowledge systems, including Indigenous and local knowledge.

The space only allowed us to welcome 50 friends and supporters for a fascinating and though provoking lecture, that prompted many conversations and debates over lunch, but the good news is that you can view a recording of the lecture, filmed and edited by Nicola Schafer on our You-Tube channel here or below:
